An Aifur an Ai

The next day we took a trip on foot to the new Town, the Kings Garden, or Kungstradgarden or so the locals would say. We passed by a beautiful park kungstadgarden park and we found lots of kids experiencing field trips or dads enjoying some time with their kids.

Even though we saw so many cool and hip cafes. We ate at…burger king. In my defense they had some banging wings! Highly recommend. In the states I am used to food being prepared relatively fast. Here in Stockholm, we had a good 10-15 minute wait. Must be that Fika again.

Later on we went to Upsala. Upsala is a college town north of Stockholm, and in between stockholm and the Arlanda international airport. Youll know when you are there when the average age of people around you goes from 40'-50’s to 23.

Joely insisted on site seeing there. I was already dying from walking several miles earlier (we were at 5 miles at this time already!) so we took some e-scooters. We were able to do a group-ride in a single app called Tier.

Joely went and did a tour of their local lutheran church Gethsemane.

For Dinner, we ate at a fantastic viking themed restaurant that was reccomended to us by an aquaintance we met at a polestar event. I’ll be straight with you. I loved that place.

  • The mead? 10/10

  • The venison? 11/10

  • The atmosphere? ∞/10

Mead? more like me-dah…okay i’'ll see myself out

The F word..

Sweden can be summed up in one word…Fika

Fika is a State of Mind, a state of being, a meal time concept of cake and tea, it’s all of those things. Swedes are laid back, mindful, and they take their time. You can find evidence of this on their public transportation, their casual conversations, their way of shopping.

We started our trip in the old town dubbed Gamla Stan when we checked into the Reisen Hotel of the Hyatt Unbound collection. We were upgraded to a Nordic Suite and when we walked into our room we had a sweet note, and a bottle of Water as well as a bottle of carbonated water. The standout feature of our room is the personal sauna in the bathroom. The negative thing was the lack of AC. It didn’t matter if it was 50 or 60 degrees outside our room, it felt like 80 when we were trying to sleep.

We decided to order some dinner as everything was closing (around 9pm at night), we ordered some swedish meatballs to take to our room. It took…some time for this to get to us, my first encounter with Fika.

We spent some time trying to get the Google chromecast working on the TV. One of my favorite features of Hyatt hotels as it allows me to stream youtube videos from my mobile device. After 20 or so minutes we found success.

After eating I believe i laid in the bed, and when I came to it was the next day. WOW what a comfy bed.
