Sweden can be summed up in one word…Fika
Fika is a State of Mind, a state of being, a meal time concept of cake and tea, it’s all of those things. Swedes are laid back, mindful, and they take their time. You can find evidence of this on their public transportation, their casual conversations, their way of shopping.
We started our trip in the old town dubbed Gamla Stan when we checked into the Reisen Hotel of the Hyatt Unbound collection. We were upgraded to a Nordic Suite and when we walked into our room we had a sweet note, and a bottle of Water as well as a bottle of carbonated water. The standout feature of our room is the personal sauna in the bathroom. The negative thing was the lack of AC. It didn’t matter if it was 50 or 60 degrees outside our room, it felt like 80 when we were trying to sleep.
We decided to order some dinner as everything was closing (around 9pm at night), we ordered some swedish meatballs to take to our room. It took…some time for this to get to us, my first encounter with Fika.
A Photo of Old Town
We spent some time trying to get the Google chromecast working on the TV. One of my favorite features of Hyatt hotels as it allows me to stream youtube videos from my mobile device. After 20 or so minutes we found success.
After eating I believe i laid in the bed, and when I came to it was the next day. WOW what a comfy bed.
